Outline Text and Lettering in ProcreateNov 01, 2020
Hi friends! I'm very excited because I'm going to show you not one, but two ways to outline your text AND lettering using Procreate. This outline pack is something I didn't realize I needed until I spotted it on DesignCuts and instantly had to have it. This pack makes my life so easy when it comes to adding that extra bang to my lettering in Procreate.
While I usually go for the handmade look when I add different shadows to my lettering, sometimes I just need something else to do it for me. THIS BLEW MY MIND. Watch the video below to see it in action.
This outline pack is so so so perfect for moments like that! I'm super excited to jump in and show you guys just how much you need it too, so let's get into it!
What I love about this outlining pack for my lettering includes:
Pressure sensors, color variations, and fluidity
This outline pack is a quick way to cheat the system here in Procreate. Some days, you really want to have that organic drop shadow feel to your lettering. But honestly, a lot of days, I want a quick fix! If you've been in this community for a while, you already know, I love a good shortcut. Screaming this from a mountain... THIS. PACK. IS. IT. All of these brushes act differently, some with pressure, some without and so many more variations.
With the all-in-one outline pack, whichever color is selected inside your circle, that's your outline, while the other color is the outside shadow. Another thing I'm loving about this outline pack is that it automatically makes the outline blend, instead of overlapping.
Watch the video below for a clearer explanation!
Here's a better look at what I mean when I say the outline blends the lettering, instead of overlapping. I mean, the fluidity is amazing!
Pro tip: If you find that you're using colors and one of them is coming out more dull before applying pressure, it's a pressure tilt issue. Here's a quick fix: go to your wrench tool, select "edit pressure curve" and adjust it to be a really sharp angle (like shown above!).
This outline pack is a 3-in-1 type of pack, which I love and appreciate! All of the packs function differently but all have the same idea: The all-in-one, the color outline, and the classic outline. What I love about packs that have this much content is that there's a brush for any type of artist and then some!
Pro tip: Turn your streamline setting up a bit for this pack! Make sure you're turning the streamline up for both brushes on the top left! Watch the video to see what I mean.
... And that's that! There are so many different brushes for this outline pack and they all vary. Some of them have different pressure sensors or have more weight on one side, some include colors and some don't.
This is definitely a pack you need to spend some time exploring to see what you really love. Unfortunately for me, I really loved all of these so now it's very hard to choose what to use and when! Truly a blessing and a curse.
I hope you enjoyed this walkthrough and if you want this pack (which you really should!), find it HERE! Or at the big obnoxious button below.
