November Moodboard

November Moodboard

If November had a texture, it’d be the sound of paper turning.
If November had a soundtrack, it would start with the fireplace being used for the first time this year.

It smells like pencil shavings and warm bread, sounds like brushes clinking in water jars, and feels like the pause before a new idea.

This month, everything feels a little quieter, a little softer, like our creativity is exhaling after a storm. Before we visit the November Moodboard, let’s appreciate how we’ve come together over the last couple months 😍

We've moved through the transition of seasons, unfolding through our work, layering, experimenting, making glorious messes along the way.

Texture & Tools

September was all about layers. Literal ones (paint over pencil, ink over texture) and emotional ones (what sits beneath the art you make). We talked about how creativity stacks on itself, pushing through the overwhelm of inspiration, ideas built over time, and color stories pressed together like sediment.

By October, those layers shifted into shadows. We explored the drama of contrast - light vs. dark, bold vs. subtle - and how even a shadow can tell a story when you let it.

Somewhere between those themes, our toolboxes got weird in the best way. There was a syringe used for wetting palettes. A jar of sand for texture. Cardboard turned into palette knives. Veggie bags used for stamping patterns (honestly, 10/10).

The Sounds of the Studio

Every artist has their “creative zone” playlist, and this season, we shared ours.

From cinematic focus tracks to nostalgic favorites, the community poured in sounds that were both soothing and unexpected - proof that art sounds different for everyone. My personal go-to playlist for creating art, for example, is unnecessarily upbeat and energizing 🤪

Maybe you lean into vibes. Like slow mornings, sketchbook pages turning, or rain tapping against a window.

The Beauty of Messy Spaces

We opened the studio doors in the community. Literally. We shared our workspaces, and ohhh, you all showed up!

Our desks, kitchen tables, and couch-turned-workspaces have never looked cozier. Some are clean and minimal, others layered with in-progress piles. The eye candy. The chaos. Turns out, the “mess” is often the most beautiful part.

If you’ve been hiding your desk contents behind a strategically placed plant, consider this confirmation: there’s magic in the mayhem.

Example: This is my studio chaos aka the piles and angle nobody ever sees. Yes, it was VERY difficult to not clean this up before taking a picture and it’s VERY difficult sharing it 😂

Here's Your November Moodboard

Now, as the year starts its slow fade, we’re stepping into the theme of Harvest.
November is a time to gather what’s grown. In your art, your ideas, your practice.

November’s moodboard is inspired by what’s been unfolding inside The Art Nest - our brand new, cozy, curious space for artists gathering and growing together.

Community members: you’ll see a new post with your prompt details on how you can “gather what's grown,” as well as space to share your harvest pieces, and I can’t wait to see how they bloom 🌱
