In 2.5 hours, you'll have started with a single leaf stroke and end with pages and pages with charming botanical compositions you're genuinely proud of!

If you've been struggling with drawing

You  know your petals & leaves can blossom...

(pun intended)

...you just need to simplify

That’s right. That means the opposite of what you might think you need.
And let's be honest, you LOVE the idea of finally not overthinking every stroke.

What's inside the class

Everything you learn here will transfer beautifully to greeting cards, sketchbooks, bullet journals, art prints, or wherever your stunning floral drawings want to live.

Here's what you'll build along the way:

Gain the confidence to draw beautiful florals without fear of mistakes

By the end of Blooming Lines you'll have a real working vocabulary for botanical line drawing:

  • petals from every angle
  • leaves with folds and movement
  • flowers mid-bloom and fully open, and
  • the composition instincts to arrange all of it into something that looks considered and alive!

Understand when to add details, and just as importantly, when not to

The class builds deliberately from the ground up. You'll start with basic strokes using a leaf study, move through petal shapes and line details, learn how to fix the wobbly bits without losing the organic quality that makes botanical drawing charming, and finish with full composition projects.

watercolor paint and water control

Develop a mindful art practice that brings you fulfillment & joy

Beyond the skills, there's something special that happens when you spend time drawing botanicals: you stop thinking about your to-do list, you notice things.

A lot of students come for the skill and stay for what the practice does to the rest of their day.

the syllabus

1. Welcome and supplies — what you actually need (it's less than you think) and how to set yourself up before the first lesson

2. Basic strokes with a leaf study — the foundation everything else builds on, taught through one of the most forgiving botanical subjects there is

3. Details you can incorporate in your greenery — the small things that separate flat drawings from ones with real depth and movement

4. Folds and bends in botanical art — how to make leaves and petals feel three-dimensional using nothing but line

5. Petals and line details — the key to drawing flowers that look intentional rather than wobbly

6. Petals from the side — a perspective shift that opens up a whole new range of compositions

7. How to fix wonky petals and add folds — because every botanical artist has drawn a petal that went sideways, and knowing how to redirect it is a real skill

8. Flower shapes in perspective — the lesson that makes everything suddenly click

9. Budding flowers — how to capture a flower mid-bloom, one of the most beautiful subjects in botanical drawing

10. Composition #1: botanical sprigs — putting individual elements together into something cohesive and pleasing

11. Composition #2: floral corner composition — building a more structured arrangement using anchor flowers, secondary blooms, and filler elements

12. Fill your page with cute botanical bundles — the satisfying finale where all your skills come together and your page actually fills up with art

13. Botanical line drawing resources — a reference collection to keep coming back to long after the class ends

I had never attempted to do botanical line drawings before this class, and I find the lessons easy to follow with plenty of 'wiggle room' for personal touches along the way. It is actually quite relaxing to do. I have a feeling my sketchbooks will be littered with flowers from now on!

I haven't been able to stop drawing flowers since I took this class. It has given me a huge confidence boost as well... like, I CAN draw. Beginner, advanced... it doesn't matter. Take the class so you, too, can draw flowers on EVERYTHING you touch.... ;)

OMG what an epic class. I really enjoyed this so much, it moves at a really comfortable pace. And there is so much extra detail you get, so many options are given and variants as to how you can do each drawing, which really simplified the process. I loved this so much!

Am soooo glad I took this class - discovered that I LOVE line drawing, especially botanicals. After this class, I have started incorporating botanical illustrations with ease in my lettering projects and I have copious notes from this class and Peggy's book with multitude of flowers & leaves to draw from :D I can't thank Peggy enough for her amazing classes and contagious enthusiasm.

I wouldn't change anything about this class. Loved every minute. I was really surprised how simplified the art was, but so classy at the same time. Will be using these techniques in the future. Thanks!!

This class was such a delight! I love drawing botanicals but find I always try to make the drawings too true to the reference and end up losing some of the fun along the way. These designs were so easy to follow along with and a great tool for de-stressing. I enjoyed this class so much I recommended it to friends before I'd even finished! Thanks again:)

Let me preface with, I have NO experience drawing. Peggy did such an amazing job explaining what she was doing that I was able to follow along nicely. I had such a tough time until I found her classes.

Meet your instructor

hey I'm Peggy

Botanical line drawing is one of my favorite things to teach because it's the one where I see people surprise themselves the most. They come in convinced they can't draw a straight line (spoiler alert: nature doesn't come in straight lines anyway) and leave filling pages with compositions they actually love.

Something I want you to know about this class: the version of botanical drawing I teach is completely my own. It's not a regurgitated technique from a textbook. It's the approach I developed over years of drawing, teaching, and figuring out what actually helps people's lines stop fighting them. The whole thing is built around loosening the grip, learning to see shapes in a new way, and trusting that organic and intentional can exist in the same drawing.

That's what I want for you. And I genuinely can't wait to see what you make.

“We love Peggy’s take on teaching the art of line drawing. Her joyful approach to embracing imperfections throughout the process is a breath of fresh air. From her perspective, a crooked line is your crooked line—it adds unique character to your artwork. Thanks to her inclusive style, beginners and pros alike can feel confident in their creativity.”                - Brit + Co.

This class is  perfect for you if...

  • You've always wanted to draw botanicals but every attempt ends in frustration
  • You love the loose, organic quality of botanical illustration and want to develop your own version of it
  • You want techniques you can use immediately and build on for years
  • You're a complete beginner, or you sketch already and want to understand botanical forms more deeply
  • You're tired of copying reference photos and want to understand how flowers actually work so you can draw them from imagination

Got a question?

14 lessons, 2 hours and 24 minutes total. It's designed to be worked through in a few focused sittings, or you can spread the lessons out however works for you.

How long will I have access?

You'll enjoy lifetime access to the course so you can learn at your own pace and revisit the content whenever you need a refresher.
