Peggy's Playground
What an amazinngggg month August has been! We have all come together on the largest scale possible - 83 countries participated in Summer Creative Retreat. Now that we're on the other side of this year's online workshop retreat, make sure you keep an eye out for this year's Sketchbook Bootcamp because it's right around the corner!!  I CAN'T WAIT.

First of all, thank you from the bottom of my heart! After my ceramics launch of 22k palettes last week, I am overwhelmed with joy from all of your support. I've never, EVER sold out of anything the day I released it, let alone within an hour of launching!

I can't thank you enough for sharing my enthusiasm of playing with the earth in the form of clay. While I haven't had as much time to get my hands dirty in the past few months, I did manage to sneak in one more batch of pieces that are going into the kiln before my next release. Pssst: it's going to be soon, and you do not want to miss these!

I love it when I find a good ware. From essentials to splurges, these are my picks for wares this month…

  • I get it, smart outlets… smart home.. things… I get it. But you know what I don't get? Why these “smart items” can't just do the ONE JOB they have. Not to mention, have you ever read the privacy policies of some of these apps?! I mean, my HEALTH data?! Ew, no thanks.

So I'm meeting in the middle of manual and smart. I can't believe I only just now thought to look up outlets that have a physical remote control. One remote that can control 4+ plugs. I'm into this. No random messages about the smart product isn't so smart (aka “cannot connect blah blah blah”), and no need to walk around to turn everything on. That's a win in my book.

  • It's probable that this may not be of interest to a lot of folks, but I've been deeeeep in a maze of giving my filming setup a major facelift. Along with it has come long hours of researching, trial and error, and learning. And naturally whilst being in the rabbit hole, I had to splurge on something that will contribute to ambiance, but wasn't totally necessary (ok try not necessary AT ALL 😅).

This light bar brings me back to being a teenager and dumping the income from my part time job into all the fun lights at Spencers.
I know you remember those colorful disco balls 🪩 I had a double decker because GO ALL IN, right?!

And yes. I'm a full adult, and I'm excited about a light bar. But listen, it's soooo customizable… it's wild. And I'll definitely use it as a mood influencer. Color is powerful that way 🥰

random animal facts

I've got two fun pigment facts in this volume.
The first one is: flamingos aren't pink. They're actually born whitish-gray!

Flamingos become pink from the food they eat, like algae and shrimp, which have pigments called carotenoids. These pigments turn their feathers AND skin pink.

  1. Boring chart photo… but it couldn't be more exciting to me. Some of you know about my ridiculously low level of iron (ferritin) and you knowww how scared I've been about the idea of getting an infusion. But after trying all the supplements for two years, I finally agreed to about 9 weeks ago. Well, the results are in! And for the first time EVER since I realized I had low iron (as in… a ferritin level of 4 😳) and alllll the fun symptoms that go along with it, I'm finally in a normal range. I've got energy, I've got focus, and oh em gee my hair is thick and stopped falling out. What a freakin' relief, I tell ya.

  2. Got the cutest chair and ottoman set for my office, and both cats immediately adopted it. Sometimes when I sit on it, I have to sit on the edge because I can't move a cat. The cat is superior to me. I not only accept this as life's truth, but I celebrate it  🐈‍⬛

  3. A few years ago, I got Laura the board game Wingspan. She laughed so much because it seemed like it'd be so boring, but the reviews were soooo good that I couldn't not. Well, turns out it's our favorite game to date. And we just discovered that they have another game called Wyrmspan - featuring dragons. Yes, yes, and yes. Both games get 5 star review from me (and tens of thousands of others).

Anddd that's a wrap on August's playground. Touch grass or sand or soil or water from a natural source today. I'm skipping out to the backyard now to do just that!
