Sketchbook Party is a live online weekend where artists from around the world gather to create, play, and make art together.
Over two days, you’ll join 10 art workshops, each one packed with fresh ideas, playful prompts, and plenty of sketchbook fun.
Theme: Storybook
This year’s theme is Storybook, and we mean that in the loosest, most imaginative way possible.
Think: the whimsy of illustrated tales, surreal twists, cozy nostalgia, or magical little details that don’t always need to make sense, but always spark imagination and joy.

Sketchbook Party takes place over 2 days of playful interaction that will break you out of creative fatigue and give you the perfect escape from burnout. Whether you’re in a rut, craving fresh inspiration, or just want to play, this weekend is your perfect excuse.

No passively watching here. Every session is built for you to pick up your tools and dive in as each artist teaches.
You’ll follow along step by step, but with room to bring your own spin, so you leave the workshop with actual pages filled and ideas brewing.

Each workshop is about 2 hours, taught live by incredible artists who bring their own unique spin to the Storybook theme. You’ll get a front-row seat to their process and create right along with them.
Expect everything from playful florals to quirky characters, mixed-media surprises, and imaginative approaches that might just spark your next favorite page.

Simple Shapes, Striking Florals
Start the weekend by turning simplest shapes into florals that feel alive. In this session, you’ll explore how form and contrast can transform flat blocks of color into striking blooms that burst off the page.
Supplies needed:
- Sketchbook
- Acrylic-based gouache (or acrylic paint)
- Round brush
- Optional: textured dry brush pen

Tigers In the Wild: Captured in Gouache
In this workshop, we will paint a sketchbook spread full of colorful tigers. We will talk about how to quickly sketch them and spend most of the time painting them and adding other elements to make our page extra fun.
Supplies needed:
- Acryla gouache, gouache, acrylics, or acrylic markers. Riso will be using Acryla gouache. Make sure to have your favorite color stocked up (like opera pink 😉 )
- A cup of water, a pencil, an eraser, and a couple of brushes
- A palette to mix your paint, tissue paper
- Your fav sketchbook

Pre-Painted Sketchbook Magic
In this workshop Fab will show how you can tell your story on a sketchbook spread and give the page a magical touch by adding a watercolor wash first, which brings all the elements together. And some of his travel stories may or may not be based on reality…

Once Upon a Spooky Halloween Journal Page
Join Maira to create a spooky Halloween journal page that celebrates this pumpkin season must-haves. Through doodles and lettering, you’ll capture the spooky-but-cute details that make this month stand out from the rest.

- Pencil and eraser
- Monoline pens
- Markers or colored pens of your choice
- Notebook

Create a Papercut Mythical Creature Collage
Join Julie to create a coloring, cut-out paper collage of a mythical creature scene in your sketchbooks. You will explore creating your own watercolor wash papers, cutting and placing shapes and using your creativity to construct this unique unicorn masterpiece.

- Watercolors
- Watercolor brush (round 8 or 10)
- Watercolor paper
- Sketchbook
- Scissors, glue or glue stick, pencil
- Clean water cup (for rinsing)

Step into the playful, mischievous world of Neverland as we channel the joyful energy of the Lost Boys into bold, abstract sketchbook spreads.

- Round paint brushes
- Metallic paint pen in gold
- White paint pen
- Gel pens in different colors

This Way, Ghost! A Tour of Favorite Haunts
You encounter a lonely ghost. To cheer them up, you take them on a tour of your favorite places, past and present. We’ll cut a reusable card stock mask of a ghost for your sketchbook spreads. Sketching loosely and expressively, we’ll add a few recognisable details to each location. You’ll create a whimsical story journal, while taking a lost ghost friend on an unforgettable journey.
Supplies needed:
- Sketchbook with white or off-white pages
- Mark-making tools: crayons, soft pastels, oil pastels, charcoal, markers, pencils
- Pencil and paper to make notes (or use your sketchbook)
- Scissors or craft knife
- Thin cardboard or heavy card stock (think: cereal box)

Choose Your Own Art-venture: Build a Whimsical Storybook Scene
Grab your sketchbook and let's leap into the storybook scene of your dreams! Using a mix of reference images and your imagination, you'll paint, sketch, or doodle your way to a unique mixed-media sketchbook piece alongside Alicia. This is a choose your own adventure lesson, so come ready to have some fun!
Supplies needed:
- Mixed media sketchbook
- Something to lay down color (like watercolor, gouache, or marker)
- Size 6 paintbrush
- Size 2 paintbrush
- Paint palette for mixing
- Something to add details (like colored pencils or pastel crayons)

Hey, I’m Peggy! I’m an artist, author, and educator 👋 I started running online art events because I know how easy it is to feel stuck in your creative practice and how powerful it can be to shake things up with a little play, community, and fresh inspiration.
Art has carried me through hard seasons, and now my favorite thing is building spaces like this where you can reconnect with your creativity too.
